Senior Systems Engineer
Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) will provide high-level operational support for complex application cloud systems, develop solutions for technical issues, and ensure compliance with VA standards and security policies.
Key responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day operational support and maintenance of production systems, including troubleshooting outages and documenting issues
- Communicate with users and senior management regarding system statuses and ensure timely resolution of hardware and software problems
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies and maintain an inventory of system assets while adhering to security policies
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly in production environments
- Strong proficiency in AWS and/or Azure Cloud services and Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and configuration management
- Experience with system administration tasks, including user management and monitoring, as well as knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
