Senior Systems Engineer
Job Summary
To support the Veterans Affairs department, the full-time Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) will perform high-level operational support for complex application cloud systems, develop solutions for technical problems, and ensure compliance with security policies while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operational support and resolve system outages for scientific workstations
- Document problems accurately and communicate status updates to users and senior management
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies and maintain system asset inventory
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly in production environments
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud services, including S3 and CloudWatch
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems, along with system administration tasks
- Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation
