Senior Systems Engineer
Job Summary
Experienced in managing large-scale production systems, the full-time Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) will provide operational support for complex application cloud systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with security policies while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Perform high-level operational support and troubleshooting for cloud systems, including isolating and resolving outages
- Document problems and maintain system asset inventory while communicating status updates to users and management
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies and ensure compliance with Veterans Affairs standards and security policies
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly in production environments
- Proficiency in AWS and/or Azure Cloud, including S3 and CloudWatch, as well as experience with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and configuration management
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef and knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
