Senior Systems Software Engineer
Job Summary
To support the Apache Spark Acceleration group, the full-time Senior Systems Software Engineer will design, build, and operate a hosted Spark service control plane on Kubernetes while extending the cuDF Spark runtime and managing production data pipelines in a remote or onsite environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design and operate the hosted Spark service control plane, including Java REST API and deployment using Helm charts and Flux
- Own code reviews for services, ensuring they remain releasable on the release train
- Investigate production failures on clusters and drive fixes to closure in collaboration with customer and upstream library teams
Required qualifications
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 9+ years of experience in software development
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems and proficiency in Java or Scala, plus C++ or Python
- Hands-on experience operating services on Kubernetes in cloud or on-premise environments
- Experience supporting enterprise production customers, including on-call responsibilities
