Senior Thermostructures Engineer
Job Summary
Providing technical leadership and mentorship, the part-time Senior Thermostructures Engineer will conduct structural analysis and assessments for aerospace systems while working remotely in a casual capacity.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as a senior mentor for early career staff, offering technical guidance and conducting peer reviews of technical products
- Maintain expertise in the development, analysis, and verification of space structures, and publish insights to enhance mission assurance practices
- Lead technical studies and assess program risks, providing advice to program offices during various phases of aerospace projects
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 12 or more years of progressively increased responsibility in structural engineering
- Expert knowledge in failure mechanics of metallic and composite materials and proficiency in finite element analysis tools like Nastran or Abaqus
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-organization teams and establish strong working relationships with customers
- Willingness to occasionally travel domestically and ability to obtain a US security clearance
- Experience in aerospace thermostructural technologies and structural design criteria
