Senior Underwriter

Job Summary

Evaluating complex mortgage loan applications outside traditional Qualified Mortgage (QM) guidelines, the full-time Senior Underwriter will manually underwrite transactions, perform quality control audits, and collaborate with internal staff in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manually underwrite mortgage loan transactions to ensure compliance with company and investor credit guidelines
• Perform quality control audits of third-party vendors to verify adherence to credit guidelines and requirements
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to communicate purchase/funding eligibility requirements and clear loan conditions

Required qualifications

• 15+ years of underwriting experience, with recent hands-on Non-QM underwriting experience
• Ability to manually calculate income for complex self-employed borrower profiles and various Non-QM programs
• Proficiency in Encompass for managing workflows and analyzing documentation
• Strong understanding of Non-QM guidelines, investor overlays, and risk layering
• Experience underwriting HELOCs and 2nd mortgages preferred
