Job Summary
To support underwriting operations, the full-time Senior Underwriter NY Licensed will manage individual life insurance applications, provide departmental training, and assist with complex underwriting cases while working primarily remote with occasional office visits in Binghamton, NY or Houston, TX.
Key responsibilities
- Review and underwrite individual and joint life insurance applications, including complex cases
- Develop and conduct training for underwriting staff while providing support and resources as needed
- Engage with sales force and reinsurers to ensure alignment with company objectives and resolve underwriting questions
Required qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience in underwriting
- Leadership and training experience in an underwriting environment
- Advanced knowledge of impaired risk and comorbidities
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; medical or financial fields preferred
- Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) designations required
