Job Summary
Underwriting individual life insurance contracts over $1,000,000, the full-time Senior Underwriting Specialist will evaluate applications, assess risks, and ensure compliance with underwriting standards while working onsite.
Key responsibilities
- Appraises and classifies applications for new insurance, changes, and reinstatements, determining extra premiums for medical impairments and special hazards
- Provides second reviews of special cases to ensure accuracy and adherence to underwriting standards
- Communicates with field force and Home Office personnel regarding applications and underwriting policies
Required qualifications
- BS or BA degree, along with LOMA and ALU courses
- 8-10 years of individual life underwriting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and federal/state insurance regulations
- Ability to interpret EKG results
- Familiarity with KofC policies and insurance products is preferred
