Site Reliability Engineer
Job Summary
As part of a collaborative remote team, the full-time Site Reliability Engineer will focus on enhancing platform reliability and performance for millions of readers by managing production services, optimizing application performance, and implementing Infrastructure as Code practices.
Key responsibilities
- Share responsibility for the health and performance of production services on Heroku and AWS, proactively identifying and resolving issues
- Define and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets, using data to drive reliability decisions
- Optimize application and database performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing necessary improvements
Required qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in Site Reliability, DevOps, or related roles managing infrastructure
- Deep experience with applications on Heroku and AWS
- Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code, specifically with Terraform
- Hands-on experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitHub Actions
- Strong coding skills with experience in Ruby on Rails, including performance optimization techniques
