Job Summary
Building and scaling core features of a distributed tracing platform, the full-time Software Development Engineer will work remotely to deliver high-quality code using technologies such as ClickHouse, Grafana Tempo, and a modern big-data pipeline, while optimizing infrastructure for observability AI.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and optimize distributed tracing features to support observability across Workday workloads
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement scalable APIs and ensure high availability of distributed systems
- Contribute to the design and testing of telemetry pipelines, focusing on performance and reliability
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of software development experience, with 3+ years focused on complex distributed system architectures
- Proficiency in at least two programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred
- Strong experience in API development and understanding of technologies like gRPC and OpenTelemetry
- Hands-on experience with big data processing frameworks such as Kafka, Spark, or Flink
