Software Engineer
Job Summary
Supporting a critical VA claims adjudication system, the remote Jr. Software Engineer will enhance and maintain API services and backend systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality capabilities in two-week agile sprints.
Key responsibilities
- Enhance and maintain API, Claim Ingest API, and backend supporting systems
- Develop integrations with VA.gov, the VA API ecosystem, mobile apps, and staff-facing tools
- Implement performant, secure, and reliable services for automated claim adjudication and processing
Required qualifications
- Experience in backend service development using modern programming languages
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, integrations, and asynchronous processing
- Understanding of cloud deployment patterns and automated testing
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Strong focus on code quality, maintainability, and security
