Software Engineer, Financial Systems
Job Summary
To reimagine an AI-first, agentic Money Platform from the ground up, the full-time Software Engineer, Financial Systems will build and own the financial infrastructure behind OpenRouter's inference gateway, focusing on flexible pricing, automated billing, and robust data architecture in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop flexible pricing and contract terms, enabling sales and customer success teams to test new deals without engineering support
- Automate the quote-to-cash process, ensuring seamless provisioning and billing for customers based on signed contracts
- Establish a source of truth for financial data, managing usage revenue, billing, payments, and collections while ensuring correctness and controls
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of experience building production financial systems in a fintech or usage-based SaaS environment
- Deep understanding of money-correctness patterns, including idempotency and double-entry accounting
- Hands-on experience with Stripe or similar payment processors and billing platforms
- Proficiency in TypeScript and SQL, with familiarity in Postgres and analytical stores
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, including AR/AP and revenue recognition
