Software Engineer II

Job Summary

Building and delivering features for a cloud-native agent harness, the full-time remote Software Engineer II will contribute to the Mecatl platform, focusing on enhancing agent execution, security, and reliability while collaborating with an AI-first engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement features across Mecatl, including agent loops, tool and permission systems, and client SDKs
• Identify and fix bugs, improving the harness for production use with a focus on reliability and security
• Utilize AI agents in the development workflow, reviewing and testing their outputs while experimenting to enhance the system

Required qualifications

• Proficiency in Go, with experience writing clean, testable code and producing clear design documentation
• Demonstrated ability to independently deliver features within a backend or platform codebase
• Working knowledge of distributed systems and cloud-native infrastructure, including Kubernetes and service APIs
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows, including understanding risks and limitations
• Interest in agent infrastructure and prior experience contributing to AI platforms or open-source projects
