Software Engineer, Payment APIs
Job Summary
To support the development of integrated payment solutions, the full-time Software Engineer, Payment APIs will design, build, and scale customer-facing payment APIs while maintaining high-volume production systems and leading complex projects from design through production.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and scale customer-facing payment APIs with reliable contracts and predictable behavior
- Lead complex engineering projects, clarifying requirements, planning incremental delivery, and ensuring ongoing maintenance
- Operate critical payment systems, participating in on-call rotations and improving system reliability through incident response and preventive engineering
Required qualifications
- Experience building, maintaining, and scaling customer-facing financial or payment APIs
- Strong understanding of high-volume distributed systems with a focus on correctness, security, and reliability
- Proficiency in handling payment API concerns such as idempotency, retries, and asynchronous processing
- Record of leading engineering projects from unclear requirements through production
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
