Job Summary
To support the API and AI connectivity revolution, the full-time remote Staff Solutions Engineer will act as a trusted technical advisor, assisting customers in architecting secure and scalable API ecosystems while managing complex enterprise deals and providing technical validation throughout the evaluation process.
Key Responsibilities
- Support field sales by helping customers understand the value of the Kong API and AI connectivity platform
- Conduct discovery conversations to map customer requirements to Kong solutions and ensure customer satisfaction across assigned accounts
- Lead technical strategy for complex enterprise deals, mentor junior SEs, and drive thought leadership through technical blogs and industry events
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of software engineering and/or solutions engineering experience at a SaaS, open source, or enterprise software company
- Proven track record of owning complex, enterprise-level deals with multiple technical and executive stakeholders
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native platforms
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tooling such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or OpenAI Codex
- Working knowledge of AI/LLM architectures and familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and agentic AI patterns
