South Carolina Licensed Outpatient CDI Specialist

Job Summary

To enhance clinical documentation and coding accuracy, the full-time South Carolina Licensed Outpatient CDI Specialist will collaborate with healthcare providers and coding teams to improve outpatient medical records, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and optimizing reimbursement.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of medical records to ensure comprehensive clinical documentation
• Accurately assign ICD-10 CM codes for outpatient encounters and maintain coding accuracy standards
• Educate clinical staff on best practices for documentation and serve as a liaison between providers and coding teams

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution
• Active South Carolina RN license or compact state licensure
• Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience
• Experience in clinical documentation improvement and outpatient HCC coding preferred
• Active certification in coding or documentation improvement preferred, with a requirement to obtain one within the first year of employment
