South Carolina Licensed RN CDI Specialist

Job Summary

To enhance clinical documentation accuracy and optimize reimbursement, the full-time South Carolina Licensed RN CDI Specialist will conduct reviews of outpatient medical records, collaborate with healthcare providers, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines while working in a hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of medical records to ensure comprehensive documentation of patient severity and medical necessity
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to improve documentation practices and accurately assign ICD-10 CM codes for outpatient encounters
• Educate providers on best practices for documentation and maintain compliance with regulatory standards

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution
• Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
• At least five years of clinical nursing experience preferred
• Experience in clinical documentation improvement or outpatient HCC coding preferred
• Active certification in coding or documentation improvement is highly encouraged, with a requirement to obtain one within the first year of employment
