SQL Automation Engineer
Job Summary
To support the mission-critical Platform Operations team, the full-time SQL Automation Engineer will design and build automation for patching production SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, ensuring high availability and minimal service disruption in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automation for patching SQL Server Always On Availability Group clusters without service loss
- Automate availability group discovery and pre-patch sequences, ensuring controlled service management during patch cycles
- Integrate automation with existing job scheduling and change management systems, producing documentation and evidence for compliance
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of enterprise Windows Server infrastructure engineering experience
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups in high-availability environments
- 3+ years of experience building infrastructure automation with Ansible and/or PowerShell
- Proven experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, PCI, SOX) is preferred
