SQL Automation Engineer
Job Summary
To support critical database operations, the contract SQL Automation Engineer will design, build, and maintain automation for patching SQL Server Always On Availability Group clusters remotely, ensuring no unplanned interruptions during the process.
Key responsibilities
- Automate the patching process for SQL Server Always On clusters, including pre-patch steps and orchestration of safe patch sequencing
- Integrate automation with ServiceNow for change workflows and maintain automation in source control using Azure DevOps
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support emergency database patching and maintain high availability throughout the patch cycle
Required qualifications
- Strong expertise in SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and enterprise Windows Server infrastructure engineering (6+ years)
- Experience with infrastructure automation using Ansible and/or PowerShell (3+ years)
- Proven success in automating patching for clustered or high-availability database environments
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Familiarity with regulated environments (HIPAA, PCI, SOX) and advanced PowerShell scripting skills
