Staff Applied Scientist

Job Summary

To support a growing auto insurance marketplace, the remote Staff Applied Scientist will build and validate models to optimize media buying and carrier conversion, ensuring the right carrier is presented to each shopper while managing data-driven decision-making processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement models for media buying and carrier selection to maximize conversion rates
• Analyze carrier conversion data and integrate it into production models for continuous improvement
• Collaborate with an ML engineer to deploy and monitor models, ensuring they adapt to market changes and user behavior

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on applied data science experience with a focus on measurable business impact
• Proven track record of building models that drive paid media decisions, including spend and bidding strategies
• Strong understanding of neural network fundamentals and experience with model architecture choices
• Expertise in Python and SQL, with the ability to handle data challenges such as late labels and sparse features
• Experience managing models end-to-end, from data discovery to deployment and monitoring
