Staff Applied Scientist

Job Summary

To support the auto insurance marketplace, the remote Staff Applied Scientist will build and validate models to optimize media buying and enhance carrier conversion, focusing on measurable business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate models that determine the optimal carrier for each auto insurance shopper to maximize conversion rates
• Manage the media buying models to ensure they meet return on ad spend (ROAS) targets and adapt to changing market conditions
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to frame problems, find relevant data, and monitor models post-deployment for continuous improvement

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on applied data science experience with a focus on measurable business impact
• Proven track record of building models that directly influence paid media decisions, including spend and bidding strategies
• Strong understanding of neural network fundamentals and ability to explain technical concepts clearly
• Experience managing models end-to-end, including data sourcing, development, deployment, and monitoring
• Expertise in Python and SQL for data manipulation and analysis
