Staff Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To build the backend infrastructure for the Aave App, a remote Staff Backend Engineer will design and operate services related to onboarding, funding, savings, vault management, and transaction orchestration while ensuring high reliability and security in production systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services for Aave App, focusing on customer communications and financial transactions
• Develop vault management and monitoring systems, collaborating with Quant Engineers to implement allocation models
• Lead technical reviews and improve backend codebase practices, enhancing testing, observability, and incident response

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience with ownership of complex production systems
• Strong backend programming skills, preferably with Rust, Go, C++, Zig, or Java
• Experience with distributed, event-driven, or data-intensive systems
• Strong knowledge of API/GraphQL design and relational databases like PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with blockchain systems and financial infrastructure involving transaction management is highly desirable
