Staff Data Scientist

Job Summary

Leading the technical direction for AI capabilities, the fully remote Staff Data Scientist will manage the scaling of search, ranking, and generative AI systems while collaborating across data science and machine learning teams to enhance production systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architectural direction for recommendation and search systems, optimizing catalog discovery through advanced modeling strategies
• Oversee image generation pipelines and enhance computer vision capabilities for product design and content creation
• Define evaluation frameworks and mentor team members while guiding strategic decisions on model implementation and optimization

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in building and scaling production ML systems with staff-level technical leadership
• Deep expertise in search and recommendation architectures, including Two-Tower models and learning-to-rank algorithms
• Hands-on experience with classical computer vision and modern deep learning architectures for image processing
• Proven ability to create closed-loop ML systems that integrate business outcomes into model training
• Fluency in Python and familiarity with the modern AI/ML stack, particularly PyTorch and MLOps tools
