Staff Engineer (Core & MLOps)

Job Summary

As a full-time Staff Engineer (Core & MLOps) working remotely, the successful candidate will architect and manage the control and context planes of the Zyte API, ensuring robust production infrastructure while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance service design and deployment processes.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and advance the control and context planes, creating automated feedback loops for operational signals
• Maintain and refine multi-language client libraries and deployment pipelines to ensure seamless adoption across product teams
• Establish inter-service contracts and drive architectural strategy through Requests for Discussion (RFDs) on critical platform initiatives

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building scalable distributed backend systems with a proven track record in core libraries
• Expertise in Java and Python, with strong proficiency in reactive frameworks and deep experience with gRPC and Protobuf
• Hands-on infrastructure expertise with production Kubernetes, Terraform, and event streaming using Kafka
• Experience designing automated telemetry pipelines and defining SLOs/SLIs for fault-tolerant systems
• Exceptional technical writing skills and the ability to articulate complex designs clearly across teams
