Staff Full Stack Engineer
Job Summary
Leading the technical direction of Alpaca's Trading API product, the full-time remote Staff Full Stack Engineer will own the architecture and design of customer-facing trading applications, identity and authentication systems, and account management features while ensuring security and performance standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical roadmap for Trading API, including identity, authentication, authorization, and customer-facing applications
- Design complex access models for account structures and lead the technical delivery of next-generation Trading API applications
- Set security standards for customer-facing systems and act as a technical point of escalation for production issues
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of production systems
- Deep experience with authentication and authorization protocols such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect
- Strong backend expertise in Go or significant experience in Java, Kotlin, C#, or Rust
- Proficient in frontend development with TypeScript and React, especially in state-heavy applications
- Solid knowledge of relational databases, API design, and service-oriented systems running on Kubernetes
