Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Job Summary

Leading cross-functional technical initiatives, the full-time Staff Machine Learning Engineer will apply machine learning to enhance Discord's consumer revenue products, including Shop, Nitro, Server Subscriptions, and Gifting, while working remotely or from the Bay Area office.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement ranking, targeting, and recommendation systems for revenue surfaces
• Build and scale machine learning systems from inception to production in ambiguous environments
• Collaborate with multiple teams to translate experiment results into strategic product decisions

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in applied machine learning, with a Ph.D. or Master's degree in a relevant field
• Strong expertise in deep learning and recommendation system architectures
• Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow
• Experience building internal ML platforms and tooling adopted by product teams
• Familiarity with personalized marketing systems and large-scale data processing pipelines
