Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Job Summary

Owning the personalization domain, the full-time salaried Staff Machine Learning Engineer will develop and implement models for homepage feeds, recommendations, and search personalization, while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote-first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of machine learning models from initial concept to production, ensuring they effectively meet customer needs
• Build custom embeddings and oversee their adoption across various surfaces within the organization
• Make critical architectural decisions that influence multiple teams and manage the full lifecycle of models, including deployment and monitoring

Required qualifications

• Extensive experience in shipping production machine learning systems, particularly in recommender systems or personalization at scale
• Proficiency in the Python ML ecosystem, including libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, and PyTorch
• Strong understanding of the entire machine learning lifecycle, from orchestration to monitoring
• Ability to create custom data representations from raw data rather than relying on off-the-shelf models
• Experience collaborating with product, design, and data teams to shape project direction from the outset
