Staff Research Engineer

Job Summary

To advance frontier AI through innovative research and engineering, the part-time Staff Research Engineer will investigate model capabilities, build research prototypes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate findings into scalable AI systems.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate frontier-model capabilities, limitations, and training methods while formulating research questions
• Build research datasets, experiments, prototypes, and evaluation frameworks, training and testing models with modern ML tools
• Analyze results with scientific rigor and communicate findings through technical reports and publications

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in machine learning or frontier AI systems
• A PhD or master's degree in AI, machine learning, computer science, or a closely related field
• Research experience in synthetic or agentic data generation, reinforcement learning, or AI evaluation
• Strong Python programming skills and experience with modern ML frameworks
• Experience mentoring engineers or researchers and providing technical leadership
