Staff Research Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the research agenda for recursive self-improvement, the full-time Staff Research Engineer will define the roadmap, design experiments, and implement improvements in an applied research role focused on enhancing an autonomous research engine, working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the RSI agenda by defining the research roadmap and deciding what improvements to implement
• Advance agent strategy through the design and testing of exploration policies and compute allocation
• Learn from past research sessions to create training and evaluation signals for better performance

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in applied ML research or research engineering, particularly in areas like LLM agents or AutoML
• Proven ability to transition research ideas from prototype to measurable improvements in production systems
• Strong hands-on engineering skills, particularly in writing production-quality Python code
• Experience with experimental rigor, including baselines and confidence intervals
• Demonstrated technical leadership, including mentoring or leading small research teams
