Staff Security Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the development of Affirm's enterprise AI security review process, the full-time remote Staff Security Engineer will evaluate architecture, prioritize AI-specific risks, and design security controls for AI systems while collaborating across various departments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and enhance the security review process for AI tools, embedding security requirements into the design phase
• Threat model AI systems to identify risks and drive remediation efforts
• Design security guardrails and tooling for AI systems, ensuring compliance with security standards

Required qualifications

• Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining security architecture for AI/LLM-based systems
• Practical experience with threat modeling and securing agentic systems
• Experience evaluating AI capabilities within SaaS platforms as part of vendor reviews
• Proficiency in building security tooling and deploying cloud services using Infrastructure as Code
• Strong understanding of LLMs, agentic systems, and authentication models
