Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
To shape the technical direction of StrongDM's proxy and control-plane platform, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will design architecture for highly concurrent, distributed backend systems in Go, drive design decisions, and mentor engineers while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Design architecture and set engineering standards for distributed backend systems in Go
- Drive design decisions for proxy data plane and control-plane services, evaluating complex technical problems
- Mentor engineers and lead code and design reviews to ensure high performance, security, and maintainability
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering with deep expertise in Go, distributed systems, and backend service development
- Experience architecting highly concurrent distributed systems and knowledge of Go's networking and cryptography libraries
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, network protocols, and API design (gRPC/Protobuf and/or RESTful APIs)
- Experience with AWS or another major cloud provider at production scale
