Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Staff Software Engineer will build and maintain Shopify checkout and post-purchase features, enhance experimentation reporting, and design robust REST APIs while ensuring production health and leveraging AI tools.
Key responsibilities
- Own and develop Shopify checkout and post-purchase features, managing server-side code and adhering to Shopify's constraints
- Rebuild and design the reporting framework for Smart Flows and A/B Testing, ensuring accurate data representation for merchants
- Design and implement secure REST APIs in PHP and TypeScript, supporting extensions and integrations with Shopify
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of experience building production web applications with PHP (preferably CodeIgniter 4) and TypeScript
- Proven track record of operating with Staff-level ownership across multiple systems or teams
- Strong troubleshooting skills in unfamiliar codebases, particularly in TypeScript or PHP
- Hands-on experience with BigQuery and MySQL, including schema design and analytical queries
- Educational background in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
