Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
Leading the technical direction of the Margin & Risk team, the remote Staff Software Engineer will design and build systems to manage financial exposure across various asset classes, ensuring accuracy and reliability while mentoring team members and contributing to mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical roadmap for margin and risk systems, including portfolio and intraday margining, options risk, and margin-call automation
- Design and implement services that translate complex margin methodologies and regulatory rules into reliable, testable systems
- Drive real-time risk enforcement, balancing latency against accuracy and safety while ensuring system reliability and performance
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in backend or distributed systems, with proven ownership of high-volume systems
- Strong expertise in Go or deep experience in Java, C++, or Rust, with a willingness to work primarily in Go
- Deep knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and experience with event-driven and service-oriented systems
- Demonstrated commitment to correctness in financial systems, including testing strategies and safe production rollouts
- Track record of technical leadership and mentorship across engineering teams
