Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
Serving as a hands-on technical leader, the full-time remote Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack will lead the design and implementation of complex applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions for Veterans Affairs.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the technical design and implementation of complex full stack applications
- Plan and execute technical roadmaps with minimal guidance
- Translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Expert-level experience developing modern web applications using React and Ruby on Rails
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating distributed services
- Experience with cloud-native application development, preferably in AWS
- Strong understanding of software architecture, testing strategies, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices
