Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
Focused on backend system design and scaling, the full-time remote Staff Software Engineer will lead the development of data infrastructure, including PostgreSQL models, Kafka-driven event pipelines, and GraphQL APIs, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance clinical data workflows.
Key responsibilities
- Lead design and architecture for complex projects within the Datastore, making data-driven implementation decisions
- Collaborate with product managers and scientific stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable integrations and solutions
- Debug and profile system-wide issues, ensuring improvements in structure, test coverage, and tooling
Required qualifications
- 7+ years of backend development experience, with at least 3 years in data platforms and backend infrastructure
- Strong proficiency in SQL and production experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization
- Hands-on experience with data streaming and event processing tools like Kafka or similar
- Proficiency in Julia or Python, with a willingness to learn Julia if not already familiar
- Experience in deploying services in containerized environments, with knowledge of Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools
