Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
Seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Datastore team in a fully remote capacity, responsible for designing and scaling backend systems for data infrastructure, including PostgreSQL data models, Kafka-driven event pipelines, and GraphQL APIs to enhance clinical studies and digital health products.
Key responsibilities
- Lead design and architecture for complex projects within the Datastore, making data-driven implementation trade-offs
- Collaborate with product managers and scientific stakeholders to translate requirements into new integrations and solutions for scaling the data platform
- Debug and profile cross-system issues, ensuring improvements in structure, test coverage, and tooling
Required qualifications
- 7+ years of backend development experience, with at least 3 years focused on data platforms and backend infrastructure
- Strong proficiency in SQL and production experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization
- Hands-on experience with data streaming and event processing using Kafka or equivalent technologies
- Proficiency in Julia or Python, with a willingness to learn Julia
- Experience deploying services in containerized environments, with knowledge of Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools
