Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
Bringing deep card payments expertise, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will lead complex technical projects on the Payments Acquiring team, focusing on building and maintaining systems that ensure reliable card payment processing, while working remotely within the Pacific time zone.
Key responsibilities
- Own the technical direction of projects from design through production rollout, leading engineering efforts
- Write production code, build testing and certification tooling, and analyze network messages to ensure system reliability
- Establish frameworks and standards that enhance the team's payments expertise and facilitate decision-making
Required qualifications
- Deep card payments experience, including working with ISO 8583 or similar integrations
- Strong hands-on software engineering experience in building reliable financial systems at scale
- Proven track record of leading complex projects and setting technical direction for teams
- Comprehensive understanding of card payment processes, including security, routing, and interchange costs
- Experience with AI coding agents and willingness to participate in on-call rotations for critical systems
