Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
Bringing deep card payments expertise, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will lead complex projects on the Acquiring team, focusing on enhancing card payment systems and ensuring reliable transaction processing, while working remotely within the Pacific time zone.
Key responsibilities
- Own the technical direction of projects from design through production rollout, leading engineering teams
- Develop systems and tooling for payment processing, analyzing network messages and debugging at the protocol level
- Establish frameworks and standards that enhance the team's payments expertise and guide engineering decisions
Required qualifications
- Extensive experience with card payments at the message level, including ISO 8583 or an acquirer's host format
- Proven track record of leading complex technical projects and setting direction for engineering teams
- Strong hands-on software engineering experience with reliable financial systems at scale
- Broad understanding of card payment processes, including security, routing, and interchange costs
- Experience with AI coding agents and their application in software development
