Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
Setting the technical direction for developer workflows, the full-time remote Staff Software Engineer will design solutions for local development, build tooling, and shared libraries while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the developer experience at Toast.
Key responsibilities
- Set technical direction and long-term architecture for Developer Experience areas
- Oversee the architecture of testing frameworks and core libraries for web services
- Collaborate with Product teams to identify and prioritize friction points in the developer workflow
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Deep expertise in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Kotlin, Java, Go, TypeScript)
- Strong experience with build systems and dependency management at scale
- A track record of leading technical initiatives across multiple teams
- Experience designing developer-facing products with a focus on usability and adoption
