Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
Driving technical execution from design through production, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will architect and deliver high-performance systems for GitHub Actions, enabling automation for millions of developers while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and ship scalable technical solutions across multiple GitHub services
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, ensuring code quality and integration with downstream dependencies
- Champion system health and quality, participating in on-call rotations and addressing live incidents
Required qualifications
- 9+ years of experience in software engineering or a related technical discipline with proven production software delivery
- Experience coding in languages such as Go, Ruby, Rust, Python, JavaScript, C, C++, C#, or Java
- Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule for 24/7 coverage
- Associate's, bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
