Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
To support a growing technology organization, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will lead the architectural direction of backend services, manage modernization projects, and mentor engineers while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Own the architecture of the team's domain, including services, data flows, and integration points
- Lead modernization efforts, ensuring low-risk transitions from legacy systems to new technologies
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and mentorship within the engineering team
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with technical leadership on multi-engineer projects
- Expert-level backend engineering in TypeScript/Node.js and/or Java, with full-stack experience
- Proven experience in modernizing legacy systems and understanding distributed systems fundamentals
- Deep relational database expertise, particularly with PostgreSQL and MySQL
- Strong background in AI tooling and integration into engineering workflows
