Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the development of an in-house search capability, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will architect and implement a personalized search system while collaborating across teams to enhance user experience in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build the architecture for search indexing, retrieval, and serving, ensuring a seamless migration from existing systems
• Define and improve search result quality through query understanding, ranking, and behavioral signal analysis
• Unify search experiences across products, guides, and registries, integrating user data for enhanced recommendations

Required qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and running search systems in production, including indexing, retrieval, and ranking
• Proven ability to evaluate search quality through relevance judgments and A/B testing
• Strong focus on user experience, utilizing query data and behavior to inform system design
• Experience in defining problems and designing solutions from the ground up
• Demonstrated impact on customer outcomes or systems relied upon by multiple teams
