Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the development of an in-house search capability, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will architect, build, and optimize search systems to enhance user experience and personalization, while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the architecture for indexing, retrieval, and serving search results
• Define and measure search result quality through query understanding and ranking improvements
• Integrate search with recommendations and AI capabilities to create a seamless user experience

Required qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and maintaining search systems in production
• Proven ability to evaluate search quality through relevance judgments and A/B testing
• Strong focus on user experience and ability to connect search changes to customer behavior and outcomes
• Experience in defining problems, designing systems, and owning projects end to end
• Track record of measuring impact through customer outcomes or system dependencies
