Staff Software Engineer, Backend

Job Summary

To shape the technical strategy for the Trust and Safety Foundations team, the full-time Staff Software Engineer, Backend will lead complex initiatives, ensure system reliability, and foster a culture of quality while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Set the team's technical strategy and manage critical, business-impacting projects over a year-long timeline
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability and manage risks
• Act as a force multiplier by defining technical solutions and operational processes, while mentoring team members

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin
• Extensive experience with highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes
• Proven track record of delivering major features and system components through effective technical planning
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and understand both low-level language idioms and large system architecture
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
