Job Summary
Providing expert consultation on complex underwriting cases, the full-time remote State Licensed Medical Consultant will evaluate medical risks, review physician statements and diagnostic results, and lead educational initiatives to enhance underwriting practices across the organization.
Key responsibilities
- Evaluate complex individual life insurance underwriting and disability claims referrals to support accurate risk assessment decisions
- Review and interpret medical records, laboratory results, and diagnostic studies to identify mortality and morbidity risks
- Lead the development and enhancement of underwriting medical manuals and guidelines to align with current medical evidence
Required qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Active licenses as RN, NP, APRN, or PA
- 7+ years of clinical healthcare experience in a medical, nursing, or advanced practice setting
- 7+ years of experience in reviewing and interpreting medical records and diagnostic testing
- 1+ year experience interpreting EKG/ECG findings in a clinical or insurance medical setting
