State Licensed Senior Counsel
Job Summary
Serving as the principal legal advisor for Empower's defined contribution and multiemployer retirement business, the full-time remote Senior Counsel will provide business-focused legal counsel on ERISA, tax, fiduciary, and regulatory matters while collaborating with various departments to support operational excellence and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise business leaders on complex ERISA, tax, fiduciary, and regulatory issues affecting defined contribution and multiemployer plans
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop legal solutions that enhance product offerings and operational capabilities
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, translating legal requirements into practical guidance for business partners
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law
- 5-7+ years of relevant legal experience, particularly with defined contribution and multiemployer plans
- Expertise in ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and related regulatory matters
- Experience advising on multiple employer plans and pooled employer plans
- Proven ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice and influence decisions across multiple business functions
