Job Summary
To support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH) in a virtual academic setting, the part-time State Licensed Sign Language Interpreter will interpret and transliterate academic content, collaborate with educational teams, and adapt materials according to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Key responsibilities
- Interpret and transliterate live academic content for students in accordance with their IEPs
- Collaborate with educators and caregivers to ensure compliance with IEPs and share student progress
- Provide language support during classroom instruction and school activities outside of the virtual classroom
Required qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience interpreting in an educational environment
- Minimum of 1 year of experience providing interpreting services virtually
- National Interpreter Certification or state-specific educational interpreter licensure
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other signing systems
- Ability to work independently with availability during typical school hours of at least 20 hours per week
