State Licensed Sign Language Interpreter

Job Summary

To support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH) in a virtual academic setting, the part-time State Licensed Sign Language Interpreter will interpret and transliterate academic content, collaborate with educational teams, and adapt materials according to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and transliterate live academic content for students in accordance with their IEPs
• Collaborate with educators and caregivers to ensure compliance with IEPs and share student progress
• Provide language support during classroom instruction and school activities outside of the virtual classroom

Required qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience interpreting in an educational environment
• Minimum of 1 year of experience providing interpreting services virtually
• National Interpreter Certification or state-specific educational interpreter licensure
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other signing systems
• Ability to work independently with availability during typical school hours of at least 20 hours per week
