Stop Loss Underwriter

Job Summary

Focusing on the Captives business, the full-time Stop Loss Underwriter will analyze and select risks for profitable growth, collaborating with seasoned staff to develop underwriting skills while working either fully remote or in a hybrid schedule from the Hamilton, NJ office.

Key responsibilities

• Write and retain profitable stop loss cases in accordance with company guidelines
• Train with internal Clinical Underwriting staff to establish foundational medical underwriting skills
• Document underwriting thought processes and maintain effective communication with sales and account management teams

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive Stop Loss Underwriting experience or equivalent education and experience
• Basic understanding of stop loss market dynamics and risk management strategies
• Strong time management skills to handle a large case load during peak cycles
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• A basic skillset in math, communication, and negotiation, with a desire to grow these skills
