Job Summary
Monitoring surgical authorizations remotely, the full-time Surgical Authorization Specialist will ensure timely and accurate authorization for surgeries, verify patient information and insurance eligibility, and assist with surgical cost analysis and documentation.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and verify authorizations for upcoming surgical cases, ensuring timely processing
- Accurately complete surgical cost analysis forms and document authorizations in patient charts
- Assist surgery schedulers with urgent authorizations and participate in staff training on new processes
Required qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the healthcare field, with a focus on referrals/authorizations
- Working knowledge of eligibility verification and prior authorizations from various payers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
