Tech Lead Backend Engineer
Job Summary
To support a mission-driven nonprofit, the full-time Tech Lead Backend Engineer will own the architecture and development of the Seekr platform, design and implement backend systems, and mentor engineering teams while working remotely with occasional travel to NYC.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and evolve backend architecture, including APIs and data flows, while making foundational technical decisions
- Ship production code weekly and manage DevOps processes, ensuring platform reliability and performance
- Mentor engineers and collaborate with product management to drive project delivery and maintain technical standards
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in building production software with a focus on backend and platform development
- Experience in a leadership role such as engineering manager, tech lead, or staff engineer
- Proven track record of operating systems in production, including deployments and incident management
- Fluency with modern AI development tools and APIs, with a strong engineering foundation
- Excitement about the mission of supporting first-generation students and working in a high-autonomy environment
